A ski vacation with family and friends can be a fun and enjoyable vacation. What could be better than skiing down the slope and then returning to sip a warm drink around a fireplace at a ski lodge? There are many popular ski resorts around the United States that are definitely worth checking out.

The Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia

This versatile resort in Virginia offers activities year round from golf in the summer to skiing in the winter. Skiing is one of the popular winter activities at the resort and features downhill skiing as well as a bunny school. Extreme sports enthusiasts can participate in snowboarding and tubing activities. For individuals who want to do something besides skiing, they can try their hand at ice skating or bowling. The Homestead resort truly is a luxury place and one of Virginia's oldest mountain resorts. Guests can unwind during the day at the onsite spa or lazily float in the heated indoor pools. The ski slope is open during the winter season.

Powder Mountain Ski Resort in Eden, Utah

Located just 50 miles from Salt Lake City, this ski resort encompasses 5,500 acres including lodges, restaurants and shops. Tourists can go on daily tours offered by the guides or enroll in one of the many snow schools available. The resort has a variety of winter activities such as snowboarding and skiing. Helicopter skiing and snowkiting are options for individuals wanting to get an extreme snow skiing thrill. There are several lodges near the resort for guests to stay the night. The ski resort is open from Mid-November to Mid-April.

Beech Mountain Ski Resort in Beech Mountain, North Carolina

This ski resort has something for everyone from the novice to the extreme sports skier. At the resort, there is a snow school featuring certified instructors who give lessons for skiing or snowboarding. Guests can also enjoy ice skating or tubing down the hill. Several restaurants are located within walking range of the resort. At night, visitors can unwind in one of the chalets or cabins conveniently situated near the mountain. In addition, there are local ski lodges and hotels near the resort that offer skiing packages. The ski resort is open from November through March.

Big Bear Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake, California

One of California's busiest destinations, this resort is home to Snow Summit. The lodge is known for the superpipe, which attracts skiers from all over Southern California. There are lessons available including private lessons and a snow school. Visitors can take part in winter activities such as skiing and snowboarding. Guests who want to stay the night can spend the night in one of the cabins or hotels located near the resort. The resort is a full service resort and has restaurants and shopping. The ski resort is open during the winter season.
