North Carolina, always a powerhouse of acoustical and vocal musical talent, has the band Stych proudly taking up the hard rock cause and charging across the local landscape.
When cousins Derek and Dustin Allman, guitarist and drummer respectively, joined forces with bass player David Diffee a seismic change, in the their universe, occurred.
“Undeniable”, the second cut on their first CD “Drifter”, describes the motivation behind the music. Driven by the faith of someday finding the right mix of talent and philosophy Derek spent over a year writing music, and recording vocal and guitar tracks. Being ready when opportunity knocked was vital.
Suddenly with Diffee’s arrival the song “Undeniable” became a reality, and in the course of a single weekend the guys had recorded six songs and were on their way to recording their 1st CD.
Influenced by the hard rock/post grunge sounds of Tool, Chevelle andMudvayne, Stych’s growing fan base has become world-wide thanks to their high ranking singles of “Boiling Point” and “Wander” on www.garageband.com. The combined strength of their vocals and instrumental work, particularly bass and drums, continue to win high praise. Both songs are featured on “Foundations” the band’s second CD released this past August.
Being grounded, in a crazy world, seems to be the keystone of this band –evident by the first lyrics of “Reconstruct”.
A million radio waves penetrate my mind
Subliminal messages try to alter what's mine
I won't rearrange my thoughts and follow them
(I won't follow them)
