Chair Massages bring calm to airport travelers

Traveling through Orlando, Dallas-Ft Worth, Nashville or Austin? You are in luck. They are among the southern airports offering chair massage for kinked up passengers

Welcome to the Super Bowl of US of travel nightmares! Are you, like me, one of thousands of people who will be driving, flying, hopping a bus or train to spend Thanksgiving someplace else?

My advice as you age while sitting in traffic, wonder how to breath when your seatmate's deodorant has gone MIA or contemplate throttling the fool in front of you whose seatback has just come crashing into your knees - keep calm.

Sprinkle your surroundings with lavender oil, listen to soothing music, eat calming foods or for those flying in/out of Orlando, Dallas-Ft Worth, Nashville and Austin perhaps a chair massage is your ticket to serenity.

How does it work?

1. While fully clothed (no oils are used) lean forward onto an ergonomically designed chair.

2. Nestle your head against the cushioned area. Yes, snoring is allowed.

3. Take a deep breath. Forget about the guy who ran his luggage cart over your foot, and didn't even say, "sorry".

4. Feel your tension melt faster than Cousin Mabels makeup on a hot July day.

Most chair massages last between 10 -30 minutes and are charged accordingly. Usually from $10 - $60.

Your neck, shoulders and back receive the greatest benefits, and your overall circulation and muscle coordination improve.

See now your blood pressure won't soar as high when you quickly dodge a too-heavy knapsack hurtling out of the overcrowded overhead bin. Think happy thoughts.

Airports like Orlando (MCO), DFW, Austin and Nashville do offer chair massage through various salons or spas. I would suggest calling ahead and making an appointment.

Orlando - Departure Spa

DFW - Jet Cut

Nashville - Massage Bar

Austin - Knot Anymore

Happy Karma - Happy Traveling!
